STATUS OF THE PARENTS IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF ISLAM
الملخص
Indeed, Parents play an important role in the development and upbringing of their children. They have a very prominent position in Islam. Islam has emphasized that Muslims should take good care of their parents, especially when their parents reach old age. The Almighty says in the Holy Quran: “And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.” (Surat Al-Isra: 23). This aforementioned verse makes it clear that Muslims must take care of their parents. Similarly, we can find the virtues of parents and their importance from the sayings of our Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him) concerning honoring parents, being kind to them, and taking care of them. Our Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him) said that the satisfaction of the Almighty lies in the satisfaction of one’s parents.
