Modern Management Principles in the Qur’anic Narrative of the Hudhud: An Analytical Study

The Holy Qur’an is a divine scripture that guides different aspects of human life. The stories of earlier prophets mentioned in the Qur’an are not only historical accounts but also contain important lessons about knowledge, ethics, leadership, administration, and social life. The story of Prophet Hud-Hud in Surat al-Naml presents several important examples that can be studied from a management and administrative perspective.

This study examines verses 15–40 of Surat al-Naml to identify the relationship between modern management principles and the administrative practices reflected in the narrative of Hud-Hud in Surah Al-Naml. It focuses on important areas such as knowledge, organizational structure, supervision, monitoring and evaluation, communication, decision-making, planning, personnel selection, and delegation of authority.

The study finds that many administrative practices described in the Qur’anic account of Prophet Sulayman (peace be upon him) are consistent, in principle, with concepts found in modern management. The findings suggest that Qur’anic narratives can be studied from a contemporary management perspective and may offer valuable insights for modern administrative thought and practice
